Merced Square
Plaza de la Merced is a square located in the homonymous district of the Spanish city of Málaga.
It is one of the main squares in the city centre, where events and festivals are regularly held. The square is home to the obelisk in honour of General Torrijos and Picasso's birthplace, the headquarters of the Picasso Foundation Birthplace Museum. This place is suggested, according to some theories, as the hypothetical location of a supposed amphitheater or a gymnasium from the Roman era, although the latest excavations (2019-2020) have ruled out this assumption.
